Welcome to the penultimate edition of our Netacad’s 2005 Informative Bulletin. In this issue, and according to your suggestions, we expanded the section “Did you know…” offering information on some technological solutions, as well as an interesting study case. For those interested in any Cisco certification, the section “Get Certified” outlines the steps to register for an exam.
Last call for those instructors who are not certified and/or have not taken the Bridge courses. Remember that as of January 1st, 2006, every instructor who does not meet these requirements will not be able to open classes in the system, leaving their students no chance to take the program. Remember, if you have any questions you must contact us immediately via e-mail: eperalta@netacadlatam.com. There will not be any extension to the dates.

Lifecycle Services
Lifecycle Services is a set of practices and methodologies supporting the evolution of networks toward business systems, besides assuring an improved Return of Investment in equipment and technological solutions.
Cisco’s Network Lifecycle Services where developed according to standards in the ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), and other frameworks based on standards, including eTOM (Enhanced Telecommunication Operations Map), as well as FCAPS (Failure, Configuration, Accounting, Performance and Security).
ITIL is one of the leading frameworks to help businesses improve the support and delivery of services. It is a wide documentation of leading practices for the delivery, support, and administration of efficient IT services, and it confirms the British standard ITSM (IT Service management) BS 15000.1
These standards help IT managers to manage their infrastructure and systems to support the delivery of IT services with the required service levels at an affordable price; they also help organizations to use their resources efficiently in order to allow them to focus on business’ mission-critical activities.
Cisco’s services approach associated to Network's Lifecycle, helps enterprises succeed in the implementation of advanced technologies through a huge portfolio of services, aligned with central and advanced Cisco's technology solutions. The last picture is to adapt services according to the customer's segment as well as to technology, defining a set of minimum required services for customers in particular segments longing for their success with specific technology.
In following editions, we will explain the stages of Networks' lifecycle and what issues and services are considered in each stage.

How do I register to take the certification exam?
Certification exams are offered in different places around the world. To register for a certification exam you need to contact an Authorized Testing Center that will handle exams in a protected and secured environment.
Registration steps are as follows:
Define the version of the exam you will take and write down the name and number of it.
Have at hand the following information:
Legal name.
Official IDl.
Name of the company where you are employed (if you are employed).
Active e-mail address. This information is essential. Cisco uses it to send reminders when candidates' certification is closed to expiration or to verify the address where the certificate has to be sent, as well as to inform candidates if their certificate has been returned due to an address problem.
Payment:
If you have a discount voucher, be sure you have its code.
If you have already taken a Cisco certification exam, be sure you have a Cisco Certification ID (CSCO00000001) before going forward with registration; this is to avoid duplication and delays when getting credit for your exam.
Choose an Authorized Testing Center. You can register online, by phone or in person. To locate a Testing Center, please visit::
When a candidate fails an exam, he/she has to wait at least 5 days as of the date of his first attempt before trying to take the exam again.
If you have a discount voucher, you must use it before its expiration date, otherwise the voucher will be discarded as they are not renewable.
The last date to register for the CCNA 640-607 certification exam is Wednesday November, 30th, 2005; the last day to take the exam is December 30th, 2005. Both dates are subject to change without notice.
During November, a wave of changes in the program is approaching, regarding the new version and the bridge courses. With due proportions and excuse me for the comparison, I think these changes will cause a chaos similar to the one caused by the recent hurricanes in the Southeast coast of Mexico. What will happen to us in January 1st?
It is very important that all of us, Instructors, do a mental exercise and simulate what would happen if we just sit here with folded arms. We are aware of our enormous responsibility in our role as instructors inside Academy Connection. What would happen with your academies if they do not meet the quality standards? Do you know what it means to be removed from the system? How would Academies' plans and learning programs be affected? Is your academy in "sight" or in the list of Cisco Networking Academy? Students will be aware of the situation all the time.
These lines might sound a little scary or chaotic, but what can we do to avoid or correct this situation? Nothing. In many cases, when we are in a tight spot or are facing desperate situations, we would like Christ's help….
.
Today and always, we are ready to help you find alternatives, but communication is very important! Do you want to start communicating with us? More than once we have given you this e-mail address, catcmx@uat.edu.mx, hoping you would take 5 minutes of your time to tell us your situation. You can be sure we will follow it up. This is one of the reasons we write this column.
While this happens in Mexico, beyond frontiers several events are taking place. For example, the recent Academy Day Ecuador 2005 show, in Quito, Ecuador, organized by Francisco Cordoba, Legal Main Contact, Fausto Vasco, in charge of T-USFQ and my dearest friend, Don Galo Valencia, -one of the greatest contributors of Academy Connection presentations in the FTP Site.
With these lines I want to thank their gentleness as well as to the people who made this event a reality: Marco Cobb and Verónica Tostado Span; my friend Rodrigo Galicia, Isaac Majerowicz, Ana Maklouf, and Jaime Tabares. I want to also thank Ing. José Maria Leal, our vice-chancellor, for trusting me the continuity and growth in Mexico of this important program.
Few lines to tell what has been learned, expecting to keep on being successful, growing with quality and training qualified professionals in a world demanding discipline, particularly in a field with constant changes and growth. I am now a few moments away of boarding my plane to Rio de Janeiro to join the LATAM TEAM that will be trained in the new IP Telephony courses, taught by our Networking Academy guru, Kevin Johnston Training Manager.
.
The flight is long, and I will have the opportunity to write this column's second part. In the following edition I will tell you a little bit of these new contents.
