From August 13 to 16, Mexico is hosting the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in the city of Merida, Yucatán. The Mexico´s CATC, the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas, located in the north-eastern part of the country, is sponsoring this Olympiad with the networking equipment required to establish communications needed for the competitions. Besides, the UAT is providing the engineering expertise to deploy the network.

		500 students from 80 nations are attending the IOI. The contestants have to be students with less than 20 years old at the 1st of July 2006, and not to be in College or University. Students write programs to solve challenging problems.
The IOI is one of the most recognized computer science competitions in the world. We thank the CATC-Mexico, the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) for all their support.
